He graduated from Kyoto University in 1931.
Career
He began studying the religions of Mongolia and Tibet. Later as a member of Eastern Cultural Society made two trips to Mongolia for research (since 1940). Assistant professor at Kyoto University (1949) and the following year was conferred a doctorate, LL.D., and promoted professor.
