In 1996 Dyke graduated from Vancouver Film School and followed that with his first short dramatic film Paper Scissors, shot in South of Korea.

Garth began his career in film and television as a young actor, being nominated for an ACTRA award (now known as the Jenie awards?) for his work in In The Fall. As a teenager he performed five years on the CTV series LET"South GO!. By the time his various burger king commercials went international and had guest-starred on shows such as My Secret Identity and Forever Knight.
He was a household face in Canada.
Garth was then contracted by RealWorld Media Incorporated. for six years as Creative Director where he wrote, directed and edited over a hundred television, video and interactive projects distributed around the world into dozens of languages. He received critical acclaim for his work as director on an 8-spot television commercial series for the Workers Compensation Board and for his role as director on the pilot episode, and co-developer of the home maintenance series Closer To Home now airing nationally across Canada on APTN. Garth became an award-winning producer after working for two years with Alliance Atlantis Broadcasting (now CanWest Mediaworks Incorporated) in Toronto, Ontario.
Garth"s time at Alliance Atlantis had him writing and producing promos for networks including Showcase, Showcase DIVA, Showcase Action, History Channel, British Broadcasting Corporation Canada, British Broadcasting Corporation Kids, The National Geographic Channel and International Finance Corporation. In 2008 Dyke reprised his role as Senior Editor for the second time on the series CMT Star for Corus Entertainment, and co-produced and wrote four episodes.
In 2009 Garth Dyke has begun directing an ambitious documentary for MAI Entertainment in India, In The Footsteps of Gandhi filmed from his travels with Arun Gandhi and the Gandhi Legacy Tour.
