Antonoff received a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Colorado in 1958.
Antonoff began his career as a manager at G. E. M. Membership Department Stores in 1958 and held it for three years. In 1967, he founded Antonoff & Company and became its president.
He owned properties near the Cherry Creek shopping center, Adams and Arapahoe counties, downtown Denver and in states nationwide. Gary was a chairman of the committee that successfully raised the funds to support the City of Denver’s effort to annex land for Denver International Airport. He was also a co-chair of the finance committee that raised the funds required to pass a sales tax to fund Coors Field. In the late 1970's, Antonoff served as a chair of the Board of the Denver Nuggets, leading a group of business people who purchased the team and establishing local ownership.
Antonoff served on the Colorado Baseball Commission, the Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Committee for DIA, the Denver Chamber of Commerce and the Colorado Sports Commission. He was a campaign chairman, board member, president of Jewish Colorado.
Also Gary was on the board of Rose Medical Center, National Jewish Hospital, the Jewish Community Center and the Anti Defamation League. At the University of Colorado he was a member of the President's Business Council, a member of the board of advisors of the Leeds School of Business, treasurer of the University Improvement Corporation and member of the real estate council.
Antonoff was a golf fanatic. He played 18 holes of golf two days before he died.
Antonoff was married to Carol Karsh. Then he married Donna Torrey Antonoff. They have a son, a daughter and three grandchildren.
