Gen-ichi Toyama graduating from an elementary school, he went to Tokyo and worked as footman for Rentaro Mizuno.
Gen-ichi Toyama entered the securities business. Served as president of the Kawashima Securities Company, and president and later chairman of Nikko Securities Company (1944). He was also chairman of Board of Directors of Tokyo Stock Exchange and secretary of Federation of Economic Organizations. Is well known for his deft settlement of the strike of the Tokyo Stock Exchange (1954).
