Gennady Pavlovich graduated from the faculty of aircraft engines of the Kazan Aviation Institute (now Kazan National Research Technical University named after A.N. Tupolev) (1965).
Gennady Pavlovich Smolentsev was a master, senior master of the Voronezh Mechanical Factory, head of department of the Voronezh branch of the Research Institute of Aviation Technologies (1965-1983), deputy director of the Voronezh branch of the Institute for Advanced Studies of the USSR Ministry of Machine Tool Industry (1983-1990), since 1990 assistant professor, professor of the aircraft building department of Voronezh Polytechnic Institute (now Voronezh State Technical University).
Author of over 90 publications, including books: "Electrochemical marking of details” (Moscow, 1983; together with V.P. Smolentsev); "The theory of electrochemical processing in non-stationary mode" (Voronezh, 2000); "Mechanical Engineering: Encyclopedia" (Moscow, 2000, volume 3, book 3; together with others).
