Gennady Stefanovich Babenko graduated from the Buturlin Art and Graphic Pedagogical School (1970, teachers I.A. Antonov, A.F. Bednenko). In the 1970s he attended painting classes of Rakityansky and Tkachev's workshop in Kalach.
Gennady Stefanovich Babenko is the author of genre-related everyday subjects, portraits, landscapes, still lifes. In 1976-1986 he designed and illustrated more than 30 books for the Central Chernozemny Book Publishing and Prioksky Book Publishing.
