(Aims to describe why and how applied research carried out...)

Since 1965 up to 1975 he worked as a resident representative in Taiwan for Population Council. He had to interrupt and to return to the United States because of his father's illness, that forced him to start an academic career and in 1976-1990 he held a position of professor of community health at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. His work there was interrupted for five years by his return to Population Council as a senior associate and director of Asian operations research at Pakistan. In 1995 he continued his professorship in the University of Massachusetts.
