he was educated at the State University, the youth trained for architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
In New York Mr. Merrill began his career in the office of Ernest Flagg and acquired valuable experience in working on plans of the U. S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. Following a few years of practice in Chicago, he returned again to New York, and in 1920 was elected head of the American Baptist Home Missionary Society, serving in the following years as Consulting Architect on more than six hundred building projects for the Society.
Mr. Merrill at the time of his decease (at Danville, Pa.) had an office in New York at 23 East 26th St.
