In 1928 Georgiy graduated from the Studio at the Odessa workers and peasants theater.
Since 1929 Georgiy Babenko was an actor at Odessa Drama Theater (nowadays Odessa Academic Ukrainian musical drama theatre named after V. Vasilko) His roles: Karl Moor in Schiller’s "Die Rauber", Gayday and Roman in Korneychuk’s "Gibel eskadry" (Death of a Squadron) and "Krylya" (Wings), Natsievsky in Karpenko-Kary’s "Martyn Borulya”, etc. Since 1933 Georgiy Babenko acted in films. Since 1954 he was an actor at Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater.
He was a member of Communist Party, since 1946.
