1915 graduate Faculty of History and Philology', Kiev University.
1916-1917 taught at Poltava high school. 1917-1920 taught Russian at high schools in Novocherkassk. 1923-1934 at schools in Samarkand.
1930-1934 at Uzbek Communist University. 1934-1961 taught at schools in Moscow. 1939-1941 taught at Moscow Municipal Postgraduate Teachers’ Training Institute: 1945-1961 taught at Institute of l eaching Methods, Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic Academy of Pedagogical Sciences.
1954-1957 taught at Moscow University. Specialized in elocution, phonetics, syntax and punctuation. His major work, Znacheniye ruboty nad intonatsiey dlya usvoyeniya sintaksisa i punktuatsii (The Importance of Classwork on Intonation for the Learning of Syntax and Punctuation), demonstrated the role of the study of the phonetic aspects of the Russian language (notably intonation) in the learning of punctuation.
Studied the problem of relating the study of phonetics to the acquisition of orthoepic and orthographic skills in teaching practice, as well as the problem of relating the study of syntax to the development of elocutionary and punctualiona! skills. Demonstrated the feasibility of teaching orthoepy as early as the 5th grade. His works are of interest to both teachers and linguists specializing in the syntactic structure of modern Russian.
