1922 graduate Petrograd Military Medical Academy.
1922-1925 assistant to Professor V. North. Tonkov, Chair of Anatomy, Petrograd (Leningrad) Military Medical Academy. 1925-1939 lecturer, then associate professor, Leningrad Military Medical Academy. 1930-1956 head, Chair of Normal Anatomy, 1st Moscow Medical Institute, where he enlarged the Anatomical Museum.
As a representative of the school of functional anatomy did research in conjunction with pathophysiologists and clinicians. Made new contributions to knowledge on collateral blood circulation, the lymphatic system, the circulation of cerebrospinal fluid, the motor apparatus and innvervation of the cardiovascular system. Trained several outstanding anatomists.
Member, Higher Certifying Commission and Experts' Commission, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Ministry of Higher Education. Chairman. Methods Commission for Theoretical Chairs, 1st Moscow Medical Institute. Company-founder and chairman, Moscow Branch, and deputy chairman, All-Union Social of Anatomists, Histologists and Embryologists.
1952-1954 coordinating ed, journal Arkhiv anatomii, gistologii i embriologii: wrote over 90 works for Soviet, German and French journals and several monographs.
