Education
1889 graduate Moscow Conservatory, where he studied under Tchaikovsky, South. I. Tancyev and A. South. Arenskiy.
Career
1891-1899 taught at Moscow Conservatory. 1901-1905 taught at Music and Drama College, Moscow Philharmonic Social. From 1912 professor, Saratov Conservatory.
From 1920 professor, Moscow Conservatory. Taught music theory to the composers A. North. Skryabin, A. F. Gedike, South. North. Vasilenko, R. M. Glier and A. B. Gol’denveyzer. Developed theory of metrotectonism, according to which all music has a common abstract principle of composition.
