1928 graduate V. Abramov’s piano class, Moscow’s Skryabin Musical Technicum. Studied composition independently, with advice from Kabalevskiy, Myaskovskiy and Shebalin. 1930 graduate Diplomatic and Economy Faculty, Institute of Oriental Studies.
1922-1925 taught political economics and political affairs in Penza. 1930-1933 worked for People's Commissariat of Foreign Trade and in various Mideast countries. 1933-1938 taught military geography and acrography at Zhukovskiy Air Force Academy.
