Georgiy SERDYUCHENKO, USSR Philologist and methodologist. linguist; specialist in Caucasian languages; Doctor of Philology; professor. correspondent member, Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic Academy of Pedagogical Sciences.
Education
1923 graduate Novocherkassk Teachers’ Training Institute.
Career
In his latter years head, Department of Languages, Institute of Asian Peoples, USSR Academy of Sciences. Helped compile orthography for North Caucasian languages. Then worked on written records and transcription of typology and grammar of obscure Oriental languages.
Founded new sci branch — Oriental linguistics within the framework of Oriental studies.
