Ginji Yamane graduated from Aesthetics and Fine Arts History Section of Tokyo University (1928).
From 1934 to 1946, wrote music comments for the Tolcyo Asahi, the Tokyo Mainichi and the Yomiuri Shimbun. Published a magazine Ongalcu Hyoron (Music Commentary) in cooperation with Akikichi Mitsukuri (1933), and later became chief editor. Became music critic of the Tokyo Shimbun(1947). Visited Europe as Japan's representative to the 29th World Modern Music Festival (1955). Author of "Guide to Beauty in Music," "Music and Thinking" and "Essays on Music."
