He studied in the city of his birth under his father, Galeazzo Campi, and later, from about 1540, in Mantua, under Giulio Romano.
He was the founder of the school of Cremona. Among his works are a portrait of his father in the Uffizi, Florence; the altarpiece for the high altar at San Abbondio; and a series of frescoes in the church of Santa Margherita, Cremona. He died in Cremona in 1572.
