Career
She is a solicitor by training and has worked in the public sector at the chief executive level since 2000. Previously she has worked as chief executive of Standards for England, at Animal Health, at the Greater Manchester Magistrates" Courts Committee and at the Criminal Cases Review Commission. She was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2016 New Year Honours for services to education.
