Studied medicine in Nagasaki.
Career
He began practicing in Edo in 1841. Performed an operation on testicles for the first time in the presence of physicians from the Dutch School in Edo in 1849. Appointed professor of surgery in Igakusho (Shogunate School).
He was employed by Lord of Hotta at Sakura in Shimo-osa (Chiba Prefecture) and by the Yamanouchi family and Lord of Tosa (Kochi Prefecture) in 1859.
