In 1937 Gopes Chandra Esh graduated from the Dacca University and recieved a Master of Science (Gold Medalist). In 1948 Esh completed his Doctor of Philosophy (Ohio State University, 1948) in Physiology and Biochemistry.
In 1941-1945 Gopes Chandra Esh was the Assistant Physiological Chemist of the Government of Assam. In 1946-1948 - a Research Fellow and Visiting Scientist, USA. In 1949-1968 - the Head of the Department of Biochemistry of the Bengal Immunity Research Institute, Kolkata. In 1973-1975 - the Professor and Head of the Division of Biochemistry and the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Science, University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana.Toured U.S.A & Western Europe.
