He was a vice rector of the Department of Anatomy at the Kharkov University (1897-1906), professor of the Department of Normal Anatomy of Tomsk University (1906-1916). The participant of the 1st World War, headed the Bureau of Sanitary Losses of the Western Front (1916-1918). He was a professor, Head of the Department of Normal Anatomy of the Medical Faculty of Voronezh State University (1923-1930), Voronezh State Medical Institute (since 1930).
Iosifov developed the theory of lymphatic system of regional nodes and the thoracic duct, the connection of the lymphatic and circulatory system was established. The methods for preserving drugs and corpses in a tightly closed space without liquid, developed by Iosifov, were taken into account when embalming the body of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin.
