Gunji Shimamura served as chief of Kume County Office, Okayama Prefecture, and later with various sections of Okayama Prefectural Government, becoming director of its Economic Department and president of Okayama Prefectural Agricultural Association.
He elected twice to House of Councilors (since 1947) and served as Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Agriculture & Forestry. Member of House of Councilors. Director of Agricultural Tools Corporation, Ltd., and chairman of Okayama Prefectural Agricultural Tools Cooperative Union and Okayama Prefectural Tobacco Growers' Union.
