He was a retainer of Nobunaga Oda. After Nobunaga's death in 1582 he served Hideyoshi Toyotomi. In 1589 he was magistrate in charge of farmland. Around that year, he started writing chronicles of the exploits of Nobunaga and Hideyoshi and completed them in about 1605. They are called Nobunagaki and Taiko-gunki. Although it is not known when when he died, he lived at least until 1610.
