H. Arthur Taussig was born in 1941 in Los Angeles, California, United States.
Taussig received a BS in Physics (1963) from University of California, Berkeley, and an MS in Biological Chemistry (1969) and a PhD in Biophysics (1971) at the University of California, Los Angeles.
From 1971 Taussig was an associate professor of photography, Department of Fine Arts, Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California. Since 1979 he has been both an instructor at Mr. Robert's Dance Studio in Newport Beach, California, and a contract instructor for Golden State Dance Teacher's Association in Downey, California. Taussig was director of the Orange Coast College Photography Gallery from 1975 to 1978; he was also acting head of its Photography Department and assistant division chairman of its Fine Arts Division from 1974 to 1976.
Taussig has also done musical recordings, such as Fate Is Only Once (Talisman Records, Los Angeles, 1975) and Contemporary Folk Guitar: Leo Kotke, Robbie Basho, fohn Fahey, Arthur Taussig (Takoma Records, Berkeley, California, 1977).
Of his work Taussig states: "I have been concerned with printmaking, using photographic materials (and) . . . have worked with computer image generation, black-and-white and color prints, Xerox, animation, video, film, photobooths, book-making, etc. I am concerned with the issues and let the solutions select the specific medium for the expression of that solution."
He is a member of several organizations: SPE, Los Angeles Graphic Arts Council, Friends of Photography, VSW, Los Angeles Institute of Contemporary Art and Los Angeles Center for Photographic Studies.
