Became a member of the Fudosha Society which was then presided over by Shotaro Koyama (1896). Shortly after left for a tour of Europe (1900-03). Returning home helped in founding Taiheiyo Gakai (Pacific Artists Association) and his works came to be exhibited at the art shows sponsored by the Ministry of Education, where he won several prizes. Became a judge of Bunten and Teiten art exhibitions. Made three trips to Europe. On his last visit he fell ill at Naples and died on arriving at Kooe. His paintings have a calm and tasteful tone about them and he excelled in painting landscapes in impres¬sionist's style.
