I have been interested in the use of labour contracts to analyse the internal organisation of a firm including that of a labour-managed firm. I think that the confluence of labour contract models and the theory of ‘firm-specific organisational capital’ can provide a better microeconomic basis for the theory of the firm than standard neoclassical models. Recently I have become more involved in the microeconomic analysis of the Japanese economy from the viewpoint of comparative industrial organisations.
