He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) party and is the Minister Of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives, and Consumerism in the Barisan Nasional government. He was previously a member of the Malaysian Senate and Chairman of the Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (FELCRA).
