Harold John Sheedlo, American cell biologist. Achievements include determination of the effects of a factor secreted by retinal pigment epithelial cells on retinal cell development and survival and its potential use to produce stem cells from retina; determined that myelin contributes little sodium potassium adenosine triphosphatase activity in the brain by the use of a myelin-deficient mutant mouse, Shiverer.
