Harold Walter was born on January 26, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois, United States; son of Elmer A. and Rosalind Lillian (Busse) Sundstrom.
Harold studied at Wright Junior College in Chicago, Illinois, United States. In 1949 he became an Associate of Arts. In three years he became a Bachelor of Arts of Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, United States. In 1954 he received a degree of the Master of Arts.
Harold worked as a foreign service information officer at the United States Information Agency in Tokyo, Jakarta, and Seoul from 1955 to 1961. In a year he became a senior public relations associate in the Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis, United Stat. He worked there until 1966. From 1966 to 1968 he was a Vice-president, director of public relations in Eisenhower People to People Program in Kansas City, Missouri, United States, and Copenhagen.
In 1968 he worked as a government public affairs representative of the North Central States Automobile Manufacturers Association in Kansas City, Missouri, United States. He worked there until 1969. In this year he became a speechwriter, public relations consultant, and commander-in-chief of the United States Pacific Forces, Aiea, Hawaii, United State. He worked there until 1975.
In 1975 he became a president of the Northern Arizona Communications, Inc. in Flagstaff, Arizona, United States. he worked there for four years. From 1977-1987 he was an assistant secretary, director of public affairs of the United States International Trade Commission in Washington, United States. In this year he became a Vice-president of the public affairs and publications of the Export-Import Bank of the United States. He worked there until 1989. Since 1983 he was a president of Halamar, Inc. in Manassas, Virginia and Easley, South Carolina.
