Oil painting under Professor South. Waugh, Philadelphia, and in Paris with Gerôme, Boulanger and Yvon, at École des Beaux Arts.
Went to Grenada, 1870, and made a number of oil sketches of the Alhambra. Later at Tangier, Tetuan, and Fez, painting Moorish scenes. In New York, 1874-1881, and later in San Francisco, Japan, Paris, and 9 years at Nice, France.
Located permanently in Paris.
