In 1964 German Petrovich graduated from the directing department of the theatrical faculty of the University of the Arts of the Ministry of Culture of the RSFSR, in 1965 - the philological faculty of the Ussuriysk State Pedagogical Institute, the department of the Russian language, literature and the English language.
German Petrovich began his career as a director of the National Youth Theatre in 1961, where he performed 15 plays for 8 years. After graduation he worked as a teacher, deputy chairman of the Central Council of the All-Union Pioneer Organization named after V.I. Lenin (1969- 1985), the head of the Main Directorate of the International Children's Center "Artek" (1985-1987). From 1987 to 1991 German Petrovich was pro-rector, professor of the psychology department of the Institute of Youth.
German Petrovich was the author of scenarios and the director of a number of major international holidays and festivals for children, adolescents and youth. In 1990, he headed the "Creative Association "Juventa" for the organization of humanitarian, cultural and sports programs for children and young people. In parallel, since 1991, he is the chairman of the Board of the Foundation for the Development of the Creativity of Socially Unprotected Children (Children of Russia Foundation).
German Petrovich has directed a whole series of mass performances in Moscow, which have become a significant event in the cultural life of the capital. Among them are the International Children's Festival "Alisa-91", Christmas Balls in the Kremlin for disabled children and orphans, the Moscow festival "Children must laugh " and gala performances in the Kremlin Palace of Congresses dedicated to the International Children's Day.
In 1994 German Petrovich was elected a full member of the International Academy of Psychological Sciences, and in 1995 - a full member of the International Academy of Acmeology and Political Psychology.
