Harusuke Nakawa was born in 1782.
At first, he wrote plays for a small theater in Kyoto. The father of Ippo Nishizawa invited him to Osaka, where he wrote plays exclusively for Kichi- saburo Arashi II and afterward Utaemon Nakamura III, leading actors. Although his works were not so brilliant, many of them were well received because of the skill of the actors.
