Hector Lee was born on December 30, 1962, in Calexico, California, United States. He is a son of Hector Garcia and Teresa Viveros Lee.
Hector Lee studied at St. John's Seminary where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy and Spanish, in 1985. He also attended the Academy of Art University and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in illustration, in 1993.
Hector Viveros Lee started his career as a teacher in Parlier, San Francisco. However, in 1993 he became a freelance illustrator. In 1996, he published his own book, I Had a Hippopotamus. Hector Viveros Lee illustrated such books as Get Set! Swim! by Jeannine Atkins, Flores para Abuela by Scott-Foresman, Can You Top That? by W. Nikola-Lisa and The Little Monk by Madeleine Del Brel. His illustrations have appeared in Cricket Magazine, Spider Magazine, Ladybug Magazine, and on the covers of books published by Crossroad, Studio Goodwin Sturges for Houghton Mifflin, Wordsmith, and Hispanex for Scott-Foresman.
Hector Viveros Lee is an American illustrator and writer who is famous for his illustration for children's books. He is also famous for his book I Had a Hippopotamus. Hector Viveros Lee has exhibited at the Sheraton Palace in San Francisco, the Thatcher Gallery at USF, and the Museum of Children’s Art.
