In 1967 Helmut Münstedt received a diploma in physics from the University of Stuttgart and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1971.
From 1968 to 1971 Helmut Münstedt served as a research assistant at the University of Stuttgart. From 1971 to 1972 he was a research fellow at City University, London. From 1972 to 1990 he worked as a scientist at Badische Anilin- & Soda-Fabrik Southeast in Ludwigshafen, Germany, and a director from 1991 to 1993. From 1992 to 2009 Münstedt was a professor at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg in Germany. He is also a contributor articles to professional science journals.
