British agent in the South African Republic after the Jameson raid, succeeding Sir Jacobus de Wet, during 1896. Decorated for service as His (or Her) Majesty acting agent in the South African Republic. Barristerat-law; M.L.A. Div. Wynberg, Cape Colony.
