Henry H. Meyers was born in 1868 in Alameda, California, United States. Member of a pioneer California family.
In 1902 he joined the late Clarence Ward in partnership and for more than twenty years carried on work under the name of Meyers & Ward, with an office on the roof of the 12-story Kohl Building at California and Montgomery Streets. Percy & Hamilton were architects of the original building, and after Mr. Percy's death in 1890 Mr. Meyers completed the structure. Said to have been the first steel frame building in San Francisco, it survived the 1906 earthquake and fire. The Hahnemann Hospital, erected prior to 1904 was another of the firm's works in the city.
Returning to Alameda in the early twenties Mr. Meyers was appointed County Architect and served in that office until his retirement in 1936. Among the many County buildings for which he was responsible were the Highland Hospital at Alameda, several schools, the superstructure of the Posey Tube, and the Veteran's Memorial Hospital, one of his last works.
He was elected San Francisco Chapter, A. I. A. in 1917 and continued a member until 1930, also belonged to the California State Association of Architects.
