Davies, Henry Eugene was born on July 2, 1836 in New York City. Son of Henry Ebenezer and Rebecca (Tappan) Davies.

Career

Admitted to New York bar, 1858. Commissioned captain, then major 5th New York Infantry, United States Army, 1861, lieutenant colonel, 1862, colonel, 1863. Brigadier general United States Volunteers, 1863, major general, 1865, resigned, 1866.

Public administrator New York City, 1866-1869. Assistant district attorney Southern district New York, 1870-1872. Author: Ten Days on the Plains, 1871.
