Director of Sir W. G. Armstrong, Whitworth, and Company, Ltd., The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company, and other concerns. Justice of the Peace for Cheshire, 1905. Entered East India house of his uncle, Robertson Gladstone of Liverpool, and of his grandfather, Sir John Gladstone, Baronet., 1870.
Was, in Calcutta, with intervals in England, 1874-1889. Acted some time as Private Secretary to his father, Right Honourable W. E. Gladstone. Justice of the Peace County of Chester.
Member of His (or Her) Majesty Treasury Committee on National Guarantee for War Risks of Shipping, 1906-1908.
