Studied steam engineering and was president Universal Turbine Company, 1915-1919. Portrait painter, since 1894. Painted portraits of Theodore Roosevelt, William McKinley and Lincoln for Union League Club (Brooklyn), Frances East. Willard, Cardinal Newman, Oscar Johnson of Saint Louis (donor of Oscar Johnson Institute for Research), Mary Baker Eddy, and many others
