Studied at Westminster School. Trinity College, Cambridge.
2nd Class Natural Science Tripos, 1864. Pupil in Atelier Questel in Paris, where he studied architecture. Returned to London; obtained Travelling Studentship for Architecture at Royal Academy, 186S. Royal Society of Painters in Water Colours, 1882.
