Herennius Modestinus held senior government positions in Rome. Modestinus was the author of several legal writings in all fields of law, of which only passages that were included in Digest (no fewer than 345 passages) of the Corpus Juris Civilis have survived to our time.

Achievements

• Under the Roman Empire, Herennius Modestinus was one of the five jurists, including Papinian, whose views were considered decisive in resolving legal controversies.
