(This is a series of commentaries on the Gospel of Luke, f...)
This is a series of commentaries on the Gospel of Luke, focusing on the gospel's pastoral implications for a Third-World setting. While primarily using the historical-critical method, Father Hendrickx considers questions raised by sociological, anthropological and cultural feminist approaches to the Gospels. He also considers recent findings of literary criticism. Highlighted topics include family, tribe, clan, the conditions of peasant life, honour and shame. This first volume in a five-volume series covers the preface and first chapters of Luke's Gospel. Subsequent volumes are "The Ministry in Galilee (Luke 3:1-9:50)", "The Travel Narrative - I (Luke 9:51-14:35)", "The Travel Narrative - II (Luke 15:1-19:44)" and "Jerusalem Ministry-Passion-Resurrection (Luke 19:45-24:53)".
