Educated public schools and Cortland Academy. Studied law at Ithaca with Judge Francis M. Finch, author of “The Blue and the Grey”.

Career

Admitted to bar, 1854. Moved to Hudson, Wisconsin, 1855. Was district atty and later judge St. Croix Company.

State senator, 1862; judge 8th judicial District Wisconsin, 1867-1877. Congressman, 1877-1883. Member Wisconsin legislature, 1887-1888.
