Takeyama Hideko was born in 1881 in Tokyo, Japan. She was the younger sister of Kun-en Kaneko.

Education
Takeyama graduated from First Girls' High School in Tokyo.
Career
Takeyama taught for awhile in local schools but abandoned the teaching profession to devote all her time to the composing of waka poems and studying of Japanese literature. She was deeply influenced by her brother Kun-en, under whom she studied. Takeyama has written several books on waka poetry.
