Hideyoshi Arima

Background

Hideyoshi Arima was born in Okayama City in 1863. He was known also by his pseudonym of Bansui.

Education

In 1888 graduated from the German Language School.

Career

He was appointed adviser to the Justice and Agriculture-Commerce Minis tries, then an official of the Police Bureau, Home Ministry. Also he represented Japan at the International Hygiene Conference in 1888.

In 1903 - appointed chief of the Police Bureau.

In 1911 - member of the House of Peers, Chief of the Legislative Bureau under the 
Katsura Cabinet.

In 1920 he was appointed a member of the Privy Council. He was responsible for the drafting of many police laws.
