Hirendra Dasgupta from Calcutta University in 1928 with Silver medal. Then got Master of Science (Chemistry) and Doctor of Science degrees from Calcutta University in 1938.
Hirendra Nath Dasgupta had done research Glass, Ceramics, Metallurgy and Synthetic Chemistry. He worked as chemist at Bengal Paint and Varnish Company Limited 1929. He was assistant lecturer in Chemistry at Calcutta University in 1933-1939, later started work as lecturar in 1939-1948. Hirendra Nath Dasgupta was a professor and head of Department of Chemistry, Fuel and Metallurgy, Indian School of Mines and Applied Geology during 1948 - 1961. Since 1961 was a professor and head of Silicate Technology Department, Banaras Hindu University. Since 1962 as principle at College of Technology in Banaras. At Indian Chemical Society was past treasurer and council. In Indian Science Congress was president at Engineering and Metallurgy Section, 48th Session. Published about 50 articles and research papers.
