Hirochika Tatsuno was a Japanese scholar of Shinto in the Edo Period. During the Kanbun Era he vehemently advocated the theological unity of Shinto and Buddhism in opposition to the theory of unity of Shinto and Confucianism, which was the main current of thought in those days. For this reason he was highly praised by Buddhist priests of the early Meiji Era.
