Hisamichi Osako was commissioned an artillery sublieutenant (1879) and subsequently appointed commander of the Third Artillery Regiment and Chief of Staff of the Fourth, then Fifth Division.
In the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905), he commanded the Second Field Artillery Brigade. Became a full general (1915). After he was placed on the reserve list, he organized the Kyiiseidan Society, an organization promoting patriotic ideas.
He was younger brother of Hisatoshi Osako.
