Career
Hoji Shimanaka became president of the Chuo Karon Publishing Company, succeeding his father upon his father's death (1949). His company published the Chuo Koron (Central Review), a leading monthly magazine for intellectuals, Fujin Koron a women's magazine and literary works of high value.
