Career
Held the position of Kanrei (Shogunate Prime Minister) three times for 20 years. In the Onin Era civil war of 1467, he fought Mochitoyo (Sozen) Yamana, commander of the Eastern Forces. Since then, they fought for several years in various districts. In 1473, Mochitoyo died of illness, soon to be followed by Katsumoto. After their death, the Hosokawa Family was slightly more powerful than the Yamanas. Katsumoto^ son, Masamoto, succeeded him as Kanrei.
