KENNEDY, Howard Angrus was born on December 27, 1801 in Stepney. Youngest son of Reverend Doctor John Kennedy, Congregational minister, and Helen Stodart, sister of late Professor J. S. Blackie.
Studied at City of London School.
After three years in the city, travelled through West Indies in 1881. Went to Canada same year and joined staff of Montreal Daily Witness. Special correspondent at New Orleans International Exhibition, taking California, etc., by the way, 1885.
Also special correspondent (still of Daily Witness) with troops suppressing Riel Rebellion in North-West, 1885. Present at Cutknife Creek fight. City (Anglic^ news) editor of Daily Witness, 1886-1890, when returned to England.
Journey to British Columbia, 1893. To Alberta and Saskatchewan, as Special Correspondent of The Times, 1905. To Canada, Japan, China, India, Egypt, etc., 1909-1910.
London School Board (Hackney), 1900-1903. Founder and chairman of a working-men’s club at Stepney. Journalist; editor The Times Weekly Edition since 1891.
